Welcome to

St. Vincent de Paul Parish

The Parish of St. Vincent de Paul stands as the direct descendant of numerous, albeit frequently disrupted, missionary efforts in the Niagara region dating back to 1626. It serves as a testament to early Canadian church architecture and is distinguished as the oldest Catholic Church in continuous use for regular worship in Ontario. more

Mass Intentions

Mass Intentions

To request for a Mass to be celebrated for a living or deceased loved one, particularly if a Mass card is needed, please visit us in person during normal parish office hours. An offering of $10 is suggested for each Mass intention. You may choose to leave the date of the Mass open or select a specific date.

NOTE: To ensure availability for specific dates, such as birthdays or anniversaries, it is advisable to submit requests several months in advance. This helps to avoid disappointment and is dependent on the availability of a priest.

Parish Bicentennial

The Heritage Council has initiated detailed planning for the 2026 bicentennial celebration of our Parish, particularly for September 27 and the preceding days. Six subcommittees have been established to oversee the preparations.

  • Call to Action

As we prepare for our Parish Bicentennial celebration in 2026, the History and Memorabilia Subcommittee is seeking individuals with information or artifacts to help update our parish history, particularly for the period after 1960. Please contact the Parish Office at (905) 468-7272 or email historysc@svdpparishnotl.ca.

Your contributions will be invaluable in preserving the heritage of our faith community.

Announcements

  • Missals

The Living With Christ missals are being made available yet again this year, and we are asking that you take yours home with you instead of leaving it in the church. A recommended offering of $5 would be appreciated (place it in the collection basket) -- your old missal can be disposed of in your recycling container. Advent journals are also available for purchase at $12.

  • Giving Tree

The annual Giving Tree is set up and ready to accept donations until December 15. Donations will be distributed to the Ozanam Centre, Niagara Falls Soup Kitchen, and Start Me Up Niagara.

  • Rotary Holiday House Tour

Our church is community stop 7 on the Tour this year, hosted by the parish Catholic Women's League and the Holy Name Society. The decor will depict the Advent theme: paths of enlightenment towards hope, joy, love, and peace (Adveniat Regnum Tuum, "Your Kingdom Come").

All parishioners and the general public are invited to visit the church at no cost on December 6 and 7, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Lunch will be included as part of the tour, available from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the Parish Hall located at 222 Davy Street.

  • Pilgrimage to Europe

Perhaps you have been reading about a pilgrimage to Europe planned by Fr. Peter for May 2025. Well, this Wednesday, 4:00PM, at St. Julia Church in St. Catharines, there will be an open house for any who would like to learn more about the experience. Fr. Peter would like to see some of you there!
