Countdown to

For our observances in Lent, including Ash Wednesday Masses and Stations of the Cross, all churches will be open to full capacity for the first time in two years. Ashes can be distributed according to the usual custom (placed on foreheads). Palms can be distributed. The Sacrament of Reconciliation can be celebrated according to usual practice.
Lent is a time for penance and repentance; for change of heart (away from attitudes that are not pleasing to God); and for prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. The weekdays of Lent are a time of penance for the Church around the world. Through forty days of closer attention to God’s Word and of more fervent prayer, we are prepared to celebrate the Paschal Mystery.
